"Marie is exceptionally competent in lactation. She is compassionate and kind. As a nonbinary person I found her to be queer affirming. It has been a pleasure to work with her. I would recommend her care to folks needing lactation support."

FAQ

Do you take insurance?

The only insurance plan I am in-network with is Aetna. Please feel free to book an appointment if you have Aetna and I can request an estimate of your out of pocket cost.

I am contracted with The Lactation Network, a company that works with some insurance plans such as most Anthem (PPO), Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO plans, most Multiplan and PNOA, UHC (HMO & Commercial plans), VA CCN plans. If approved, lactation visits are provided at no charge to the client. You can click on the button above to see if your insurance plan is covered. If you have Cigna, click the button above to confirm coverage through Wildflower Health. If not approved for coverage, I will provide you with a superbill with the appropriate codes that you can submit to your insurance. I don't guarantee reimbursement and don't offer refunds if your insurance doesn't reimburse. I do accept cash, checks, credit cards, and FSA/HSA cards.

Cancellation policy: If you must cancel within 24 hours of an appointment, I charge a $50 cancellation fee to your credit card on file to cover the lost time. Since I know life happens, I do offer the ability to reschedule one time within 24 hours with no fee.

Do you offer remote consultations?

I offer virtual consultations for self-pay clients and for clients approved through The Lactation Network for virtual lactation coverage. Notably, clients with United insurance will not be approved for virtual/telehealth appointments through The Lactation Network. Please reach out to The Lactation Network for further details.

How far do you travel for home visits?

I provide home visits in a 30 mile distance from Presque Isle, Maine. If you live beyond that distance, depending on availability I may be able to travel further for an additional fee. Office visits are not available at this time.

How should I prepare for my initial consultation?

When I visit you in your home, I will meet you where you are at. I am judgement-free and I want you to feel comfortable. To prepare for your appointment, it is helpful to have a log of feeding and diaper output for the past 24 hours. If you are using any breastfeeding tools, please have them available and ready to use.  Although certainly not necessary, if you have other young children at home you might find it easier to focus on your appointment if you have another caregiver at home to tend to them. Please also complete your intake form prior to the appointment, ideally the night before. Although I do love animals, please have pets secured in another room during our appointment.
